William Risse
Geospatial Support Assistant, PGC

What I Do

I provide geospatial support, maps, and datasets to help polar researchers accomplish their goals. I work with others at PGC to deliver geographic data to research parties, and provide general support.

Education

  • Masters of Environmental Planning, University of Minnesota
  • BS, Natural Resource Management- Land Use Planning, with a minor in GIS, University of Wisconsin- Stevens Point

Interests

My professional interests include using spatial data to better understand environmental systems on a local, regional, and national level. I am also interested in environmental policy and how it influences our land use and development decisions. I have a wide range of other interests, but unfortunately there is not time to study all of them at once.

My hobbies include canoeing, fishing, hunting, backpacking, nordic skiing, and travelling. When I get tired of the outdoors I enjoy the occasional book, movies, and watching entire TV series in just a few days. During football season you’ll find me on Sundays cheering for the Packers at the nearest Packers bar.
